Community Leadership: Senior Fellow, American Leadership Forum; Board Member,

I am honored to be nominated for the employee representative to the Civil Service Board. I believe I have a unique blend of education and experience that will help guide my service. I have a BS in Business Administration from Eastern Oregon University and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington; I am also a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. I have been honored as a 40 under 40 recipient, more years ago than I care to admit. I began my career in the fire service over 25 years ago, starting as an Administrative Assistant. At that time, that particular labor group was not represented; I led the effort to organize a labor group still going strong. I have experience with Civil Service, as Lakewood Fire used to operate under that model. I've been on the management side of things since 2007, never losing sight of the importance of collaboration and partnership. I chair multiple labor/management committees, strategic planning committees, and sit on negotiations teams. I am a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA Pierce County, a member of Lakewood First Lions, and the Passport Rotary Club of Pierce County.
