PSE update to their Employees
Posted On: Dec 347, 2021

Just to keep you informed, PSE sent this out to all PSE employees:

"PSE TODAY: Vaccine policy update: pausing due to court stay for federal contractors earlier this week, a federal court temporarily halted the Executive Order that required employees at federal contractors like PSE to receive their final vaccine dose by Jan. 4, 2022. This temporary injunction applies nationwide until the court has time to review the appeals. The federal contractor vaccine order is part of a suite of White House administration actions designed to increase vaccination rates.

Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been monitoring all applicable laws and adjusting our protocols when appropriate – and this is again one of those times. Therefore, PSE will be pausing our vaccine requirement timeline and accommodations process that was tied to the Executive Order for federal contractors.

Accommodations in lieu of vaccination are not currently required for federal contractors until the stay is lifted, and it could take a significant amount of time for the courts to decide. By then, employees may have changed jobs, different accommodations may be appropriate, safety protocols could change, and more may be known about the virus. We will initiate the accommodations process again as needed.
We must still comply with state/county/city/customer rules that require employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Thank you to the 93% of you that have uploaded your proof of vaccination or requested an accommodation. Employees working with customers or on projects that require vaccination must follow these requirements and show their vaccine card if asked.

We’re currently reviewing the safety protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated employees (as well as processes such as hiring) given the temporary court stay and our target of late January to move into Stage 3 of our Reopening Plan.
Our vaccine policy core principles remain the same as we continue to follow the science, health experts and the law:
1.    Puget Sound Energy is a federal contractor and we are required to comply with all applicable orders, regulations, and legislation.
2.    We agree with the Centers for Disease Control, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the state Department of Health and other authorities that vaccination is a critical tool for providing a safer work environment and reducing risk to the larger community in which we serve.
3.    We seek to move to the next stage in our return to the workplace as promptly as possible, while ensuring that we operate in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local health and safety laws and guidelines."
