Urgent Message from Business Manager Alice Phillips 2020
Updated On: May 132, 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

I hope you are doing all that can be done to stay safe and safeguard yourself and your family as much as possible. These are the times when we must pull together as a 483 family and move through this disaster together. I want to let you all know that I understand how you are feeling. Some of you will be upset or downright pissed off that you cannot work from home while others can.  Please remember we are trying to keep our members as safe as possible, while earning an income, so we can address the crisis that may occur if there is a Mandatory Shelter Order put into place. We are reaching out to every company to get their plan and respond on your behalf. Shop Stewards, please know that you are a vital link in the communication chain and we are counting on you to fill us in on what is happening in your work areas.

Now I want to tell you what I am doing to try a limit the exposure to my staff. Byron, Roberta and I are working remotely. You can reach us by e-mail or mobile phone. The support staff are still working in the office, but I have enacted the following restrictions to help protect them from exposure. We have closed the Union Hall to the public. I have taken this drastic measure in order to comply with the recommendations made by the CDC, our State government and our local County leadership.

Effective immediately all IBEW Local 483 April Meetings and gatherings, as well as Member to Member Night in early May, are cancelled. I have temporarily made it possible to register on our Out-of-Work Books online instead of coming in. All registering and re-signing is available on our website at www.ibew483.orgYOU DO NOT NEED A LOGIN OR PASSWORD! Under the Members tab select Dispatch and select Online Submission.

I apologize for this disruption, however, protecting the health and safety of IBEW Local 483 members and staff is my top priority. With that in mind, please continue to practice the recommended precautions of washing your hands frequently, covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing and practicing social distancing. If you are having symptoms or are not feeling well, please stay home.

If you need assistance, need to speak with a Union Representative or need to take care of other Union business, please call the Union Hall at (253) 565-3232 to make arrangements with our staff. Again, please take care of each other. Call the Union Hall if you need anything, and remember we are family and we will get through this TOGETHER!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Sincerely

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Alice A. Phillips
